The steps

How it works

  1. Mark a 30-yard channel with two cone gates in it.
  2. A defender guards each gate.
  3. Beat the first, keep control, then beat the second.
  4. Do 8 runs, then rotate roles.

Coaching point

Beat one, find space, beat the next.

Safety: Stay on your feet and play the ball, not the player. No slide tackles; any live challenge is only with a coach watching.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Two-gate game: two defenders stand in separate gates and only block the space, with no tackling. The dribbler tries to pass both, then everyone swaps.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (defenders stand still), Core (one steps), More (both step). Beat your own best of clean passes through.

Story

You are a hero crossing two bridges guarded by friendly trolls.
