The steps

How it works

  1. Set a gate of two cones 10 yards away.
  2. Drop the ball close to the ground and strike the top half.
  3. Keep your knee over the ball.
  4. Kick 20 and count the ones through the gate.

Coaching point

Knee over, strike the top.

Safety: Warm up your legs first and make sure nobody is in front of you when you kick.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Target-kick game: two teams of two take turns kicking to target zones. Each team counts only its own hits.

Challenge

Pick a target: Less (big), Core (medium), More (small). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a rocket aiming at the moon.

My best
