The steps

How it works

  1. Feet shoulder-width, knees bent, back flat, eyes up.
  2. Hold for 10 seconds while your parent checks your shape.
  3. They give a gentle push on a shoulder; stay balanced.
  4. Do 8 holds, then try a three-point stance.

Coaching point

Flat back, weight on the balls of your feet.

Safety: No contact in this drill beyond a parent's gentle hand on your shoulder: gentle pushes only, never a shove.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Mirror footwork: a partner slides with their hands up and you stay square and balanced, with no contact. Swap often.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (partner walks), Core (jogs), More (changes direction). Beat your own run of balanced mirrors.

You are a door that closes whichever way the wind blows.
