The steps

How it works

  1. Drop the ball from your hands and volley it at goal from 12 yards.
  2. Next let it bounce once and strike the half-volley.
  3. Keep your knee over the ball so it stays low.
  4. Take 10 of each on both feet.

Coaching point

Eyes on the ball, short backswing.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Toss-and-strike pairs: your partner tosses underhand and you strike the bounce or the air at a target. Pairs count their hits.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (strike after one bounce), Core (half-volley), More (volley). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a star striker with perfect timing, hitting the winning shot.

Beat your own best out of 10. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
