The steps

How it works

  1. Put a cone 5 steps in front of you as the “defender”.
  2. Dribble at it with small touches.
  3. Just before the cone, dip your shoulder one way.
  4. Push the ball the other way and sprint 3 steps past it. Do 8 each side.

Coaching point

Fake one way, go the other.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Fool-the-cone: your partner stands still as the defender and says “you got me” when your fake fools them. Your pair collects ten.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (walk the fake), Core (jog), More (finish with a burst past the cone). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a winger fooling a sleepy giant and slipping past on the other side.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own best out of 10. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
