The steps

How it works

  1. Two attackers and one tag defender play in a 10-yard channel.
  2. The carrier runs at the defender and gets tagged.
  3. They pop the ball up to the support runner within one step.
  4. Play 12 rounds and swap roles.

Coaching point

Tagged, turn, pop.

Safety: Tag only: touch with two hands or pull a tag belt. No grabbing, pushing or tackling.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Pass-and-run trio: pass along the line while running forward and count completed passes, then swap. The trio tries to beat its own last count.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (walk), Core (jog), More (pass to the weaker side). Beat your own longest run of passes.

Story

You are a relay of pigeons carrying a message down the field.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own longest run of passes. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
