The steps

How it works

  1. Put a cone 5 yards ahead as the defender.
  2. Jog in and chip the ball just over the cone.
  3. Sprint past and catch it before it bounces twice.
  4. Do 10 chips, walking back between each.

Coaching point

Short and soft, then chase.

Safety: Warm up first and run on flat, non-slip ground. Stop if a muscle feels tight.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Target-kick game: two teams of two take turns kicking to target zones. Each team counts only its own hits.

Challenge

Pick a target: Less (big), Core (medium), More (small). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a rocket aiming at the moon.

My best
