The steps

How it works

  1. Two attackers play against one defender near the goal.
  2. Carry hard at the goal to draw the defender.
  3. If they come to you, pass; if they stay, shoot.
  4. Play 10 reps.

Coaching point

Make them choose, then do the other.

Safety: Wear the gear your rules require for any partner drill. Boys: NOCSAE helmet, mouthguard, gloves, arm pads and ND200 shoulder pads. Girls: SEI-certified F3077 eyewear and a mouthguard.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Look-up game: a partner shows fingers behind your shoulder as you cradle, and you call the number. Swap, and count correct calls together.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (one number), Core (two), More (a number and a color). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a lookout on a ship, calling what you see.
