The steps

How it works

  1. Lay 4 balls in a line, 3 steps apart, with a cone at the end.
  2. Jog to each ball, scoop it on the run and cradle it to the cone.
  3. Drop it in a pile and jog back for the next.
  4. Time yourself and try to beat your own time over 3 rounds.

Coaching point

Run through the ball, do not stop on it.

Safety: No body contact: go for the ball, never the player. Helmet and gloves on when a partner rolls the ball.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Scoop game: a partner rolls the ball and you scoop it on the move with nobody contesting it. The pair counts clean scoops, then swaps.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (slow roll), Core (medium), More (to your side). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a gardener scooping up the golden apples.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own best out of 10. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
