The steps

How it works

  1. A coach takes medium shots from 10 yards.
  2. Save, step out of the crease and find a breaking teammate.
  3. Throw a firm pass to their stick.
  4. Do 12 reps.

Coaching point

Save, look, outlet.

Safety: Goalies wear a helmet, throat guard, chest protector and gloves. Start with soft balls and slow shots.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Shadow game: stay between your partner and the goal with your stick in a good spot, with no checking. Swap often.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (partner walks), Core (jogs), More (changes direction). Beat your own run of steady shadows.

Story

You are a castle guard holding the bridge.
