The steps

How it works

  1. Place your hands on the mat a hand-length from the wall.
  2. Kick up one leg at a time until your heels rest on the wall.
  3. Push tall through your shoulders and squeeze your legs together.
  4. Hold 10 to 20 seconds, then step down one foot at a time. Do 5.

Coaching point

Push tall, belly tight.

Safety: Use a clear wall with a soft mat under your hands. Warm up your wrists first and stop if they hurt. Come down by stepping one foot at a time. Have a grown-up nearby.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Gym follow-the-leader: one person leads a movement and the group copies. Swap the leader each time.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (slower or smaller), Core (as written), More (one extra twist). Aim for smooth form and compare only with your own last time.

Story

You are an explorer crossing the gym like a jungle.

My best

Beat your own count

Aim for smooth form and compare only with your own last time. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
