The steps

How it works

  1. Stand tall with arms out to the side.
  2. Reach one straight leg behind you with a pointed toe.
  3. Keep your chest up and hold.
  4. Do 5 holds per leg and beat your own best.

Coaching point

Tall chest, long back leg.

Safety: Pain in your lower back, worse when you bend back, is never normal: stop and tell a parent or coach. Keep back bends few and gentle.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Beam buddies: walk the line or low beam while a partner cheers each steady step. Swap, and the pair collects ten steady crossings.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (a wide line), Core (low beam), More (add a turn). Beat your own best steady crossing.

Story

You are a tightrope walker over a canyon, calm and steady.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own best steady crossing. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
