Roll to the Towel

Roll a soft ball underhand so it stops on a towel. Judging how hard to roll is the start of the short game.

The steps

How it works

  1. Lay a towel on the ground 3 big steps away.
  2. Your child rolls the ball underhand toward the towel.
  3. Try to make it stop on the towel.
  4. Move the towel nearer or farther each time.

Coaching point

Praise the try: “Great feel, it stopped right there!”

Safety: A soft ball only, rolled along the ground. Play on grass or a soft, flat, clear space.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Play “Roll to the Towel” as a “my turn, your turn” game with a grown-up. Everyone takes a turn and every try gets a cheer.
