The steps

How it works

  1. Set two cones 3 big steps apart.
  2. Start low, feet wider than your shoulders.
  3. Shuffle to one cone and back; your feet never touch or cross.
  4. Do 6 trips of 20 seconds, resting between.

Coaching point

Wide feet, chest forward.

Safety: No contact in this drill: footwork only, with a big step of space from anyone else. Use flat, dry ground and stop if anything hurts.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Mirror footwork: a partner slides with their hands up and you stay square and balanced, with no contact. Swap often.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (partner walks), Core (jogs), More (changes direction). Beat your own run of balanced mirrors.

Story

You are a door that closes whichever way the wind blows.
