The steps

How it works

  1. Stand near the post with your stick flat on the ground.
  2. Your partner passes across the front of goal.
  3. Angle your stick so the ball changes direction into the goal.
  4. Do 20 deflections.

Coaching point

Hold still, angle the face.

Safety: Keep your stick low and check that the space around you is clear before you swing. Shoot only at an empty goal, or at a goalkeeper in full kit with a coach running it. Nobody downfield or behind the goal. Wear protective eyewear (ASTM F2713) where your league requires it.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Target-corner game: two teams of two take turns shooting at corner targets. Each team counts only its own hits.

Challenge

Pick a target: Less (big), Core (medium), More (small). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a goal hunter, and each corner is a treasure chest.
