The steps

How it works

  1. Your partner rolls a ball to your side; save it with a side fall.
  2. Put the ball down, get up quickly and get into your ready stance.
  3. Your partner sends a second ball to the other side straight away.
  4. Do 6 rounds, rest a minute, then do 6 more.

Coaching point

Up fast, set before the next one.

Safety: Practice falls on soft grass or a mat, start from your knees, and never dive at a player's feet without a coach.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Save-and-reset game: make a save, get back up and set for a second ball. The pair counts quick resets.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (a long pause), Core (a short pause), More (straight into the next ball). Beat your own best.

Story

You are a boxer’s corner crew: one save, one reset, ready again.
