The steps

How it works

  1. Make a long side lane with 2 cones, and a small target gate across from its end.
  2. Push the ball down the lane with big touches.
  3. At the end cone, stop, look up and pass across through the gate.
  4. Walk back and go again: 8 runs, then switch sides.

Coaching point

Big pushes down the line, then a calm pass across.

Safety: Run on grass or a flat, dry surface; walk back between runs.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Wing-and-cross game: dribble down the side and pass across into a target. Two teams of two take turns, each beating its own count.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (jog), Core (steady), More (cross with the weaker foot). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a train running down the track, then switching to a new line.

Beat your own best out of 10. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
