The steps

How it works

  1. Set 3 cones in a line and a “try line” at the end.
  2. Your child holds the ball in two hands.
  3. They run around the cones and put the ball down over the line.
  4. Cheer the try. Walk back and go again.

Coaching point

Praise the try: “Try! Great dodging around the cones.”

Safety: No contact: nobody chases to grab the child or the ball. Play on grass or a soft, flat, clear space.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Add a helper: a favorite toy joins in “Run and Score a Try” and cheers for every try. Everyone gets a turn.

You are a kangaroo, and your toy friend is learning from you.
