The steps

How it works

  1. Skip to a rhyme or song for 30 seconds.
  2. Rest for 30 seconds.
  3. Try a new rhyme or a new step each round.
  4. Do 8 rounds.

Coaching point

Small jumps, steady beat.

Safety: Land softly on grass or a mat, knees over toes, never caving in. Keep the number of jumps low. Stop if knees, shins or ankles hurt.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Rhyme jump: skip to a rhyme and change the rhyme each round. A partner can sing along or turn the rope.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (step over the rope), Core (jump), More (add a twist). Rest when you need to.

Story

You are a jester skipping through the king’s court.

Beat your own count

Rest when you need to. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
