The steps

How it works

  1. A partner rolls a ball out ahead of you.
  2. Scoop at speed and pull the stick to your ear.
  3. Find a second partner breaking wide and hit them with a pass within 2 steps.
  4. Do 12 reps and rotate.

Coaching point

Scoop, ear, pass.

Safety: No body contact: go for the ball, never the player. Helmet and gloves on when a partner rolls the ball.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Scoop game: a partner rolls the ball and you scoop it on the move with nobody contesting it. The pair counts clean scoops, then swaps.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (slow roll), Core (medium), More (to your side). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a gardener scooping up the golden apples.

Beat your own count

Beat your own best out of 10. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
