The steps

How it works

  1. Start side by side 15 feet from a puck.
  2. On "go", race to it and get your hips between your partner and the puck.
  3. Whoever has body position first keeps it 5 seconds.
  4. Do 10 races.

Coaching point

Get there first, get low.

Safety: No pushing or bumping. Win it with your feet.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Strong-stance game: stay low and balanced in your hockey stance for a slow count while a partner glides around you. No contact. Swap.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (hold 3 seconds), Core (5), More (8). Beat your own steadiest stance.

Story

You are a tree with deep roots in a windy storm.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own steadiest stance. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
