The steps

How it works

  1. Carry the puck up the middle with a partner trailing.
  2. Call "drop", leave the puck behind and keep skating wide.
  3. Your partner shoots or passes back to you.
  4. Do 10 reps.

Coaching point

Call it, leave it, drive.

Safety: Wear a helmet with a full cage, a neck guard, a mouthguard and full gear on the ice.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Tape-to-tape pairs: pass back and forth and count passes in a row to beat your own last round.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (close), Core (medium), More (one touch). Beat your own longest run of passes.

Story

You are a pair of dolphins playing catch across the bay.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own longest run of passes. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
