The steps

How it works

  1. Stand 15 feet from the boards with a partner further down the ice.
  2. Pass into the boards at an angle so it rebounds to them.
  3. Adjust your angle until it lands on their blade.
  4. Do 20 passes each.

Coaching point

Angle in equals angle out.

Safety: Wear a helmet with a full cage, a neck guard, a mouthguard and full gear on the ice.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Tape-to-tape pairs: pass back and forth and count passes in a row to beat your own last round.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (close), Core (medium), More (one touch). Beat your own longest run of passes.

Story

You are a pair of dolphins playing catch across the bay.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own longest run of passes. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
