The steps

How it works

  1. Kick up on the mat with your coach beside you.
  2. Find your balance and press your fingertips to stay up.
  3. Hold as long as you can stay straight.
  4. Step down or roll out the way your coach taught you. Do 8 tries.

Coaching point

Fingers fix it, body stays straight.

Safety: Only in a gym with a qualified coach and proper mats. Never try this at home.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Beam buddies: walk the line or low beam while a partner cheers each steady step. Swap, and the pair collects ten steady crossings.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (a wide line), Core (low beam), More (add a turn). Beat your own best steady crossing.

Story

You are a tightrope walker over a canyon, calm and steady.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own best steady crossing. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
