The steps

How it works

  1. Set a square of cones 5 yards apart.
  2. Run forward up the first side, shuffle across the top.
  3. Backpedal down the far side, shuffle back to the start.
  4. Do 3 each direction with rest between.

Coaching point

Plant outside foot, stay low.

Safety: Use a clear, non-slip space and change direction only as fast as you can control. Stop if a knee or ankle hurts.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Four-corner game: a partner calls the move for each side (run, shuffle, backpedal) and you travel. Swap callers.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (walk), Core (jog), More (choose your own order). Keep each move tidy.

Story

You are a guard checking all four corners of the castle.

My best

Beat your own count

Keep each move tidy. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
