The steps

How it works

  1. A parent claps slowly: clap, pause, clap.
  2. Swing back on the first clap.
  3. Swing through on the second.
  4. Do 15 swings to the beat.

Coaching point

Swing to the beat.

Safety: At home, use only foam or plastic balls and swing only in a clear space with nothing breakable nearby.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Green-target game: two teams of two take turns aiming at hula-hoop greens, standing well apart. Each team counts only its own hits.

Challenge

Pick a hoop: Less (big), Core (medium), More (small). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a pilot landing a plane on the right runway.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own best out of 10. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
