The steps

How it works

  1. Set 4 cones in a big square.
  2. Your child tucks the ball under one arm, held tight.
  3. They run around the cones and back home.
  4. Switch arms and go the other way. Go around about 5 times, with rests.

Coaching point

Praise the try: “You held it tight the whole way!”

Safety: No contact: nobody chases to grab the child or the ball. Play on grass or a soft, flat, clear space.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Try “Carry It Home” slow like a turtle, then quick like a bunny, then slow again. Giggles are part of the game.

Story

You are on a space trip, and “Carry It Home” is how you move on the moon.
