The steps

How it works

  1. Start 25 yards out with a teammate; one defender waits.
  2. Draw the defender, then pass or shoot.
  3. Shots stay on the ground.
  4. Play 10 attacks with a coach watching.

Coaching point

Draw one, free the other.

Safety: Live tackling only with a coach watching. Mouthguard and shin guards on, ball on the ground, stick below the shoulder. Wear protective eyewear (ASTM F2713) where your league requires it. Shoot only at an empty goal, or at a goalkeeper in full kit with a coach running it. Nobody downfield or behind the goal. Wear protective eyewear (ASTM F2713) where your league requires it.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Target-corner game: two teams of two take turns shooting at corner targets. Each team counts only its own hits.

Challenge

Pick a target: Less (big), Core (medium), More (small). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a goal hunter, and each corner is a treasure chest.
