The steps

How it works

  1. Stand in front of the rim as your partner walks in for a layup.
  2. Jump straight up with both arms high.
  3. Land in balance and box out.
  4. Do 12 reps at walking pace, then a slow jog.

Coaching point

Straight up, arms high, no swipe.

Safety: Land softly on both feet with knees over toes, on a non-slip floor. Stop if your knees or ankles hurt.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Mirror slides: a partner walks side to side and you stay in front in a defensive stance, with no contact. Swap often.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (partner walks), Core (jogs), More (changes direction). Beat your own run of steady slides.

Story

You are a shadow that sticks to its owner.

Beat your own count

Beat your own run of steady slides. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
