The steps

How it works

  1. Catch on the wing in triple threat.
  2. Show a quick shot fake with the ball at your eyes.
  3. Take one dribble left or right and stop on two feet.
  4. Shoot; take 20 shots and count makes.

Coaching point

Fake at eye level, stop square.

Safety: Land softly on both feet with knees over toes, on a non-slip floor. Stop if your knees or ankles hurt.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Shooting gallery: two teams of two take turns at the hoop from marked spots, and each team adds up only its own makes.

Challenge

Pick a spot: Less (close), Core (free-throw line), More (a step back). Beat your own best of makes out of 10.

Story

You are an astronaut and the hoop is the docking port, so every make is a perfect landing.
