The steps

How it works

  1. Stand side-on to a target 4 to 6 steps away.
  2. Point your free hand at the target.
  3. Step with the opposite foot and throw overarm.
  4. Count how many of 10 reach the target, then try the other hand.

Coaching point

Point, step, throw.

Safety: Throw only into clear space or a solid wall, with nobody in the way. Use a soft or light ball.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Target toss: set up three targets and take turns throwing. Your pair keeps one total.

Challenge

Pick a distance: Less (close), Core (medium), More (a step back). Beat your own best.

Story

You are feeding the zoo animals.
