A dry-land drill for a room at home. Draw the six positions on paper and move a coin to show where you go when your team has the ball and when it loses it.

The steps

How it works

  1. Draw a rectangle and mark the six attack spots.
  2. Put a coin on your spot.
  3. A grown-up says "we have it" or "we lost it"; move your coin where you would go.
  4. Do 12 calls and explain one of them.

Coaching point

Know your next spot.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Call-the-play: a partner shows a hand signal or color and you say what you will do. Swap, and count correct calls together.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (one signal), Core (two), More (a surprise signal). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are the captain reading the sea for the next move.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own best out of 10. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
