The steps

How it works

  1. Hold the foam javelin above your shoulder, point forward.
  2. Take 3 walking steps and throw it straight.
  3. Wait for the coach before fetching, then carry it back point down.
  4. Do 12 throws.

Coaching point

Point leads, elbow high.

Safety: Use a foam or soft implement, throw toward an empty open space, and wait until everyone is behind you.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Target throws: throw soft implements to a target zone only when the coach calls. Everyone throws, then everyone retrieves together. The pair keeps one total.

Challenge

Pick a zone: Less (big), Core (medium), More (small). Beat your own best out of 6.

Story

You are a hero throwing a stone across the river.

My best

Beat your own count
