The steps

How it works

  1. Set 6 markers in a zigzag line, about 3 steps apart.
  2. Run to each marker and turn around it toward the next.
  3. Bend your knees and take small steps as you turn.
  4. Walk back; do 6 runs.

Coaching point

Get low to turn.

Safety: Use a clear, non-slip space and change direction only as fast as you can control. Stop if a knee or ankle hurts.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Follow the path: a partner sets a zigzag of cones, you travel it, then you set one for them.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (wide zigzag), Core (medium), More (tight turns). Aim for low, smooth turns.

Story

You are a mountain biker winding down a trail.

My best

Beat your own count

Aim for low, smooth turns. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
