The steps

How it works

  1. Stand side-on with knees bent and weight on the balls of your feet.
  2. Shuffle 5 yards one way without crossing your feet.
  3. Drop-step and shuffle back.
  4. Do 10 trips.

Coaching point

Side-on, low, never flat-footed.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Mirror shuffle: a partner leads side to side along a line while you stay low and side-on, mirroring each step. Swap often.

Challenge

Levels: Less (slow), Core (medium), More (partner changes direction without warning). Beat your own run of steady shuffles.

Story

You are a crab guarding a treasure chest on the sand.
