The steps

How it works

  1. Stand on one leg facing a partner 3 yards away.
  2. Your partner tosses high, low, left and right.
  3. Catch and return without the other foot touching down.
  4. Do 10 tosses per leg, 2 rounds.

Coaching point

Stable leg, soft hands.

Safety: Throw only into clear space or a solid wall, with nobody in the way. Use a soft or light ball.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Catch circle: toss to a partner while balancing on one leg. The pair counts catches made while still on one leg.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (a soft toss), Core (medium), More (to the sides). Beat your own steady catches.

Story

You are a stork catching fish.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own steady catches. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
