Catch in the Bucket

Hold a small bucket and catch a soft ball tossed gently into it. Soft hands and watching the ball come before using a real crosse.

The steps

How it works

  1. Your child holds a small bucket or bowl with two hands.
  2. Stand 2 big steps away and toss a soft ball gently toward it.
  3. They move the bucket to catch the ball.
  4. Swap: they toss, you catch. Then step back a little.

Coaching point

Praise the try: “You moved your bucket right to it!”

Safety: A soft ball only, tossed gently underhand from close by.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Play “Catch in the Bucket” to a song. When the music plays you play, and when it stops you freeze like a statue, then start again.
