The steps

How it works

  1. Stand a stick apart from a partner with a puck on the ground between you.
  2. On a signal, get low and pull the puck out with your stick.
  3. Use your legs for a strong base.
  4. Do 10 battles.

Coaching point

Low and wide wins.

Safety: No bumping, leaning or pushing: win the puck with your feet and your stick.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Skate-or-run follow-the-leader: one person leads a movement and the group copies. Swap the leader each time.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (slower or smaller), Core (as written), More (one extra twist). Aim for smooth form and compare only with your own last time.

Story

You are an explorer crossing the ice like a frozen lake.

My best

Beat your own count

Aim for smooth form and compare only with your own last time. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
