The steps

How it works

  1. Spray or mark the club face lightly.
  2. Hit 3 balls and look at the marks.
  3. Adjust ball position or tee height a little.
  4. Hit 9 more, checking every 3.

Coaching point

Find the middle of the face.

Safety: Keep everyone clear before every swing: look in front and behind, and make sure no one is within two club lengths. Swing only where a coach or parent says it is safe.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Fairway-target game: two teams of two take turns hitting to a target zone, standing well apart. Each team counts only its own zone hits.

Challenge

Pick a zone: Less (big), Core (medium), More (small). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are sending a rocket down the fairway to the landing pad.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own best out of 10. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
