The steps

How it works

  1. Stand on one leg in the middle of three taped lines.
  2. Reach the other foot along each line as far as you can and tap lightly.
  3. Return to the middle without touching down between reaches.
  4. Do 3 rounds on each leg.

Coaching point

Hips level, knee over toes.

Safety: Practice on soft ground or near a wall with clear space around you, so a wobble is no problem.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Star partners: a partner calls a point of the star and you reach there on one leg. Swap.

Challenge

Choose a level: Less (a hand on the wall), Core (free), More (reach a little farther). Steady beats far.

Story

You are a ballerina drawing a star on the floor with your toe.

My best

Beat your own count

Steady beats far. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
