The steps

How it works

  1. Hold a push-up position with feet a little apart.
  2. Lift one hand to tap the opposite shoulder.
  3. Keep the hips still.
  4. Do 3 sets of 10 taps.

Coaching point

Hips still as a table.

Safety: Keep breathing and stop when your hips sag or your back aches.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Plank band: tap your shoulders to a song, switching the tapping hand on each beat. Swap with a partner every song.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (from the knees), Core (feet wide), More (feet closer). Keep your hips still.

Story

You are a drummer keeping the beat on your shoulders.

My best

Beat your own count

Keep your hips still. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
