The steps

How it works

  1. Set low hurdles about a stride apart.
  2. Hop over each one on two feet with quick, short contacts.
  3. Keep arms driving and the trunk tall.
  4. Do 4 runs through the line, with full rest. Keep total hops under 60 for the day.

Coaching point

Off the ground fast.

Safety: Land softly on grass or a mat, knees over toes, never caving in. Keep the number of jumps low. Stop if knees, shins or ankles hurt.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Hurdle rhythm: a partner claps a beat and you hop the hurdles in time. Swap.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (two hurdles), Core (three), More (four). Stop if your landings get loud.

Story

You are a bunny hopping over a garden fence.

My best

Beat your own count

Stop if your landings get loud. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
