The steps

How it works

  1. Lay out 5 or 6 "puddles" of different sizes.
  2. Jump over each one with two feet.
  3. Land quietly with bent knees.
  4. Go through the course 4 times, making the puddles wider if it feels easy.

Coaching point

Swing the arms, land like a cat.

Safety: Land softly on grass or a mat, knees over toes, never caving in. Keep the number of jumps low. Stop if knees, shins or ankles hurt.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Puddle parade: set out towels as puddles and take turns leading the group over them, landing quietly like a cat.

Challenge

Pick a puddle: Less (narrow), Core (medium), More (a little wider). Every landing is a quiet one.

Story

You are a frog hopping over puddles after the rain.

My best

Beat your own count

Every landing is a quiet one. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
