The steps

How it works

  1. Number the arrows 1 to 7 from your side.
  2. A coach calls a number.
  3. Point to it and say the board.
  4. Do 12 calls, then roll 5 balls at called arrows.

Coaching point

Count from your side.

Safety: Never step past the foul line; the lane is oily and slippery. Wait for the pinsetter to finish before you bowl, and never go down the lane.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Arrow game: aim at a mark on the lane, and the pair counts how many rolls cross it. Two teams of two each track only their own total.

Challenge

Pick a mark: Less (the first arrow), Core (the second), More (the third). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a navigator following a star down the lane.
