The steps

How it works

  1. Hold the bat by the barrel so the handle is at the top.
  2. Take your stance and swing as fast as you can.
  3. Listen for the loudest whoosh out in front of you.
  4. Do 3 sets of 8 with a short rest.

Coaching point

Make the noise out front.

Safety: Check that nobody is within two bat lengths before every swing.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Base-path follow-the-leader: one person leads a movement between the bases and the group copies. Swap the leader each time.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (slower or smaller), Core (as written), More (one extra twist). Aim for smooth form and compare only with your own last time.

Story

You are a base runner exploring the diamond.

My best

Beat your own count

Aim for smooth form and compare only with your own last time. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
