The steps

How it works

  1. Stand with toes at a line.
  2. Swing your arms back, then forward as you jump out.
  3. Land on both feet and hold for 2 seconds without stepping.
  4. Do 3 sets of 3 with full rest; note your best stuck jump.

Coaching point

Swing, jump, stick.

Safety: Land softly on grass or a mat, knees over toes, never caving in. Keep the number of jumps low. Stop if knees, shins or ankles hurt.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Landing zone: set a cone landing zone and jump into it, holding the landing. Pairs cheer each stuck landing.

Challenge

Pick a distance: Less (short), Core (medium), More (a little farther). Only a held landing counts.

Story

You are a frog crossing a pond from lily pad to lily pad.

My best

Beat your own count

Only a held landing counts. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
