The steps

How it works

  1. Run a steady lap and a half.
  2. Kick from a cone your coach set: 300, 200 or 150 yards out.
  3. Note which point let you finish strong.
  4. Do 3 reps with full rest.

Coaching point

Kick from where you can hold it.

Safety: Drink water before and after, run in the cool part of the day, and stop if you feel dizzy. Thunder or lightning: go inside now and wait 30 minutes after the last one. After a hard day comes an easy day or a rest day, with 1 to 2 rest days a week. Eat a meal or snack before and after training.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Chatty run: run with a friend or a parent and tell stories. If you can talk, you are at the right pace.

Challenge

Pick a time: Less (5 minutes), Core (8), More (12). Compare only with your own last run.

Story

You are on a gentle adventure to find the best view.

Beat your own count
