The steps

How it works

  1. Set 2 target gates out wide, 12 to 20 steps away.
  2. Your parent passes to you as a back-pass and starts counting.
  3. Scan, touch out of your feet, and pass through a gate before “3”.
  4. Do 3 sets of 6, using both feet.

Coaching point

Scan, touch, pass.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Beat-the-count: a partner counts to 3 as you take your first touch, scan and pass out. Swap and keep one pair total.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (count to 5), Core (count to 3), More (count to 2). Beat your own best out of 10.

Story

You are a goalkeeper starting the attack with a smart pass.

My best

Beat your own count

Beat your own best out of 10. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
