The steps

How it works

  1. Mark your starting point on the runway with your coach.
  2. Sprint with tall posture and quick feet, speeding up to the board.
  3. Hurdle low and hit the board with both feet together.
  4. Rebound up onto a stacked landing mat. Do 8 runs.

Coaching point

Fast feet, low hurdle, punch.

Safety: Only in a gym with a qualified coach and proper mats. Never try this at home. If you hit your head, or feel dizzy or headachy after a fall, stop, tell your coach, and do not train again until a doctor says you are OK.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Gym follow-the-leader: one person leads a movement and the group copies. Swap the leader each time.

Challenge

Pick a level: Less (slower or smaller), Core (as written), More (one extra twist). Aim for smooth form and compare only with your own last time.

Story

You are an explorer crossing the gym like a jungle.

My best

Beat your own count

Aim for smooth form and compare only with your own last time. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
