The steps

How it works

  1. Jog, skip or gallop around the space.
  2. When the music stops or someone claps, stop in two or three steps.
  3. Freeze with knees bent, feet apart, chest up.
  4. Play 10 rounds, changing how you move each time.

Coaching point

Brakes on, knees bent.

Safety: Use a clear, non-slip space and change direction only as fast as you can control. Stop if a knee or ankle hurts.

Make it fun

Play it, don't drill it

Game version

Freeze Dance: move in different ways until the music stops, then freeze in a balanced pose. A wobble just means try again.

Challenge

Choose your pose: Less (two feet), Core (one foot), More (one foot with arms out). Hold each for a slow count.

Story

You are a statue in a magic garden that comes alive when the music plays.

My best

Beat your own count

Hold each for a slow count. Only your own number counts: today against last time.
